The Aerothermodynamics and Propulsion Branch of the European Space Agency presents their compliments and wish to extend an invitation to you to attend the 1st ESA Workshop on the Physics of Microgravity Cryogenic Sloshing Motions.
The workshop will be held from the 18th to the 19th of December 2013, at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
Three key lectures will be presented by Dr. Wei Guo (Florida State University, USA), Dr. T. Himeno (University of Tokio, Japan) and Prof. M. Dreyer (University of Bremen, Germany) during the first afternoon of the workshop.
The following day a blind comparison of a benchmark experiment with volunteer numerical solutions will take place. The subject of the benchmark experiment is the investigation of free oscillations during reorientation of a cryogenic liquid in a partly filled right circular cylinder upon step reduction of gravity. Two cases will be examined, an isothermal and a non-isothermal. A detailed description of the benchmark experiment you can find under the test description link. ESA is interested in assessing the state of the art numerical tools so everyone interested is encouraged to participate. The invitation to participate is fee free and open to everyone to submit numerical solutions by the 15th of October via the website. After the initial submission of numerical solutions, the experimental results will be distributed to the participants and second submission will follow for the updated numerical solutions. The second deadline is the 15th of November.
Please note that this workshop is organized together with the 5th European Space Cryogenics Workshop,
that will be held from 16-18 December 2013 in the same premises.
